Urban AI Hub is an esteemed research collective housed within the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The hub brings together a dynamic group of scholars and higher degree researchers with shared and complementary expertise in the fields of smart and sustainable cities, communities, and artificial intelligence (AI). Under the leadership of Professor Tan Yigitcanlar, who founded and directs the group, the hub focuses on pioneering research and innovative approaches to urban challenges.
Currently, the hub hosts 14 PhD researchers who are delving into various topics related to smart and sustainable urbanisation and AI. These researchers are exploring innovative solutions and contributing to the global discourse on how technology can enhance urban living. In addition to its current cohort, the hub boasts a strong network of alumni, including 23 former PhD and MPhil researchers who now hold academic positions at prestigious universities in Australia and abroad. These alumni, along with a dozen senior academic affiliate members from QUT and other leading universities worldwide, provide invaluable support and networking opportunities for the hub’s researchers.
This research hub along with its extended network not only enhances the academic and professional development of current members but also fosters a collaborative environment that drives the hub’s mission to advance knowledge and practice in the realm of smart and sustainable cities and AI.
