PhD Research Summary:
The broad aim of this PhD project is to understand and identify ways for responsible innovation to take place in the context of smart homes. The specific aim of the PhD is to develop a framework for responsible AI and robotics suitable for the emerging Australian smart homes industry. This project will concentrate on the social dimensions and investigate how responsible innovation with AI and robotics can occur in smart homes. The findings of this project will be useful in making smart home technologies and services more ethical and increasing the positive externalities of smart homes on their patrons and thus promoting the uptake. This will contribute to advancing the effective, efficient and responsible integration progress for these innovations into our societies and cities.
