Ryan completed his PhD in 2015 at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Ryan’s research is focused on theories of Collective Intentions and Group motivational gain effects, within the context of alcohol consumption within friendship groups. Specifically, this encompasses:
1) Social marketing: which seeks to develop and integrate marketing concepts with other approaches to influence behaviours that benefit individuals and communities for the greater social good.
2) Collective Intentions: a commitment of an individual to participate in joint action and involves an implicit or explicit agreement between the participants to engage in that joint action.
3) Köhler’s Motivational Gain effects: which finds that less-able workers can, when under certain circumstances, perform better when they are members of a team, than when they are working individually.
