Social media mapping
The Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC) component of the project uses advanced social media data analysis to provide rich insights into how the Australian public imagines and talks about senior living environments and retirement, across a range of platforms and demographics.
The TrISMA (Tracking Infrastructure for Social Media Analysis) platform enables the collection and analysis of posts and media objects (e.g. images) from a range of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The cross-platform social media analytics explores how senior living and retirement is imagined and discussed in Australia and internationally, supplementing our analysis of text-based discourse with more ephemeral traces of everyday engagement, especially in visual form.
We use advanced social media analytics to map the public conversations around complex and uncertain issues – and senior living is a perfect application domain for these capabilities.
