Kevin Witzenberger and Associate Professor Michelle Riedlinger from QUT ran a hands-on workshop at Research Bazaar Queensland on how to audit generative AI tools for academic research and writing.
Participants got practical experience evaluating different AI research tools, looking at what they can and can’t do, and thinking through the ethical issues. We worked together to create “report cards” that help explain these tools to other researchers and the wider public.
Michelle and Kevin are CIs in the ARC Discovery Project on generative AI and the future of academic writing and publishing. The workshop gave researchers useful ways to think critically about using AI tools in their work and how these technologies are changing academic research.
