The Infrastructure Safety Research Group (ISRG) within the Science & Engineering Faculty has vastly contributed towards the safe and effective performance of infrastructure and mitigate the dangers to the community caused by random loadings through ground- breaking research carried out by reputed academics and researchers, supported by Australian Research Council Grants and Industry funding. The focusses are on the applications of new materials and sensor technologies, innovative designs and advanced modelling techniques to deliver infrastructure that perform well under normal loads and able to withstand extreme events such as vibrations, earthquakes, impacts and blasts to protect human lives and lessen economic losses. ISRG’s state of the art laboratory facilities along with sound capability in advanced numerical simulations have enabled the group to achieve excellence in research and find creative and effective solutions to real-world problems.
