Partner Organisation: Victorian Institute of Sport
PhD student at La Trobe University
Supervisors: Dr David Carey, Dr Minh Huynh, Richard Little
Tara completed her bachelor’s degree in physics in 2022 at Curtin University in Perth. In 2023, she transitioned into the field of data science, pursuing an honours degree with a project in collaboration with the Fremantle Dockers AFL Team. This experience allowed Tara to combine her interest in academia with her life-long passion for sport. She has dabbled in many sports over the years, and have a particular enthusiasm for Australian football, both as a fan and a player.
What made you interested in this program?
This program presented an amazing opportunity to combine my interests in research and data science with my passion for sport. Working with data from elite-level athletes is also very exciting to me, and I am looking forward to being a part of and make connections within this large consortium where cutting-edge research is being conducted.
What research question are you looking forward to exploring?
I’m looking forward to exploring and uncovering what types of athlete data are the most informative and valuable, and how data collection can be optimised to gain meaningful insights into athlete performance. I am excited by the potential of this work to have a practical impact and enhance athlete performance.
Fun Fact about yourself
I love space, and I engaged in a lot of astrophysics research projects in my undergrad.
