His research project is titled Player List Management Optimisation for Australian Football League Teams. This project involves examining player performances and how they impact on team success and how a team should best allocate their limited resources to achieve long-term sustained success in a highly competitive, constrained environment. Similar research in American sports includes Moneyball involving Major League Baseball, which saw teams start to take sports analytics more seriously and which first piqued his interest in this area.
