This is the first of two workshops/discussions in our data ethics series for the Australian Data Science Network. Each workshop will begin with experts each giving a 5 minute lightning talk, followed by 30 mins of Q&A/discussion. We hope that the talks will involve provocations/open-ended questions and that the discussions could potentially lead to future collaborations among participants.
The workshops will be led by Professor Rachel Thomas, co-founder of Fast.ai and Professor of Practice at the QUT Centre for Data Science. The panellists are:
- Ben Hutchinson (Google Sydney): Checking Assumptions Regarding Data Validity
- Lauren Oakden-Rayner (Univ of Adelaide): The False Hope of Explainability in Medicine
- Aaron Snoswell (QUT): The Value Alignment Problem in AI
- Cathy Robinson (CSIRO): Indigenous-led AI
