The Centre for Robotics has access to QUT’s Samford Ecological Research Facility (SERF).
The Samford Ecological Research Facility (SERF) is used for research, teaching and learning in a range of ecological, engineering, built environment and creative arts programs relating to biodiversity and conservation, urban development, and agriculture.
We adhere to strict Animal Ethics and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) approvals and protocols. This arena is used to test different UAS navigation in GPS denied environments strategies and object detection from airborne imagery as well as to test the integration of thermal, hyperspectral, multispectral and air quality sensors in collaboration with the Research Engineering Facility (REF) prior to their deployment in real world scenarios (agriculture, reef, wildlife and conservation).
