Payam completed his PhD in Computer Science from Victoria University of Wellington in 2023, with a focus on mobile robot navigation in outdoor terrains with slip and skid. He pursued his Master’s in Robotics and Control from the University of Tehran, where his thesis involved the cooperative control of multiple mobile robots in cluttered environments.
As a Research Fellow in AI and Robotics at the QUT Centre for Robotics since May 2023, Payam actively collaborates on a pioneering Australia-USA joint project (AUSMURI) with institutions such as MIT, Boston University, UNSW, and the University of Melbourne. His work revolves around bio-inspired autonomous navigation of mobile robots and innovative computer vision techniques for high-speed event cameras.
