PhD Researcher

I am Keerthinathan Pirunthan, a first-class honors graduate from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, where I specialized in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering. My professional journey commenced as a research engineer at the UAV lab within the ENTC department at the University of Moratuwa. In this role, I focused on developing payload systems for VTOL drones. Subsequently, I embarked on a new chapter as a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Engineering Technology department at the University of Jaffna. Here, I had the opportunity to teach subjects such as Robotics, Embedded Systems, Control System Engineering, and Measurement and Instrumentation. During my academic pursuits, I co-founded a startup company called AGX ONE (Pvt) Ltd. This venture was born out of my undergraduate project, a patented “health-based crop-dusting drone.” AGX ONE (Pvt) Ltd. is dedicated to providing innovative solutions in the agriculture sector, utilizing drones and aerial image analysis. I successfully designed various configurations of rotary motor drones and leveraged their capabilities to find effective and commercializable alternatives to traditional methods across diverse sectors in Sri Lanka. My academic and professional experiences have allowed me to contribute to the fields of research, education, and entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on drone technology, robotics, and agriculture.
