Rheinmetall Defence Australia: Advanced Terrain Detection (ATD)

Rheinmetall Defence Australia launched its first Australian research and technology program, with Australian, German and Canadian development teams working with Defence Science and Technology (DST), QUT (Queensland University of Technology), CSIRO’s Data61 and RMIT University.

Our role as research partners is to provide the deep technical expertise required to solve complex developmental problems related to autonomous driving, to help deliver game-changing autonomous vehicle technologies in Australia.

For this particular project we are developing new technologies for Advanced Terrain Detection (ATD).

This development occurs against a backdrop of several major activities including the new Boxer vehicle Rheinmetall is delivering to the Australian Defence Force under the $5.2 billion Land 400 Phase 2 program.
