Vera completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in geology ad geochemistry at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. While completing her degrees, Vera has worked in the labs of the university as an archaeological and forensic researcher, which helped her to get years of laboratory experience. In 2023, she started her PhD at QUT, focussing on early life on Earth. Her research is focussing on Neoarchaean rocks which contain early microbial life, as well as meteorite impact-related deposits. By studying early life on Earth and the conditions under which life evolved, Vera hopes to contribute to the research that is currently done on life on Mars. She has always been interested and fascinated by planetary science and hopes to be able to contribute to planetary science research during her career.
