UAV navigation and exploration of GPS-denied environments
This research is aimed at developing frameworks for planning and executing UAV navigation and exploration missions of GPS-denied environments such as the ones on Mars. The research includes developing frameworks to simulate visual mapping and localisation algorithms on Mars-like environments using video game engines. Furthermore, current work includes the development and flight-testing of UAV prototypes capable of navigating and mapping unknown GPS-denied environments in the search of objects using on-board cameras.
