Agenda:

Professor Barbara Bollard is an accomplished researcher and academic in the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at Auckland University of Technology. Her research primarily focuses on computational conservation, specifically monitoring life forms such as vegetation and their evolution in extreme environments. Using low altitude remote sensing, she rapidly surveys large areas and has developed spatial temporal analytics to analyze the captured data. Her research has had significant implications for environmental conservation and management, providing valuable insights into sustainable environmental policies and practices.

Additionally, Professor Bollard is an affiliate of SETI and involved in several NASA-funded projects that search for life on other planets. She has published extensively in leading scientific journals, and served as an editorial board member for several academic journals. Her research has garnered national and international recognition and acclaim, including an invitation to join SAEF (of which QUT is a major Hub) and AUT University Medal for her contribution to remote sensing research.

Professor Bollard is an active member of various professional organizations and has consulted with numerous organizations on the use of drones for environmental monitoring. Her dedication to research, teaching, and mentoring students has made her a highly regarded figure in the academic community. Her expertise has significantly advanced the understanding of environmental conservation, remote sensing, and the search for life beyond our planet.
