Da Vinci Precinct

What is the Da Vinci Precinct?

High ceiling area at the DVP for the larger sized experiments.

The Da Vinci Precinct (DVP) is a QUT facility located near the Brisbane Airport, which was established with the initial purpose of testing drones/UAVs in an indoor secured space. In 2021, the Applied Superconductivity Laboratory (ASL) team was allocated space inside this center to conduct experiments involving industrial scale prototypes and research test jigs. The warehouse-like space for the larger sized experiments is shown in the image to the right. In addition, the DVP also offers three smaller workshop spaces and a range of office spaces for smaller scaled work to be conducted.

Located next to this large high ceiling workplace is an allocated workshop, where multiple cryogenic experiments are conducted. The Gifford-McMahon (GM) cryocooling provides cooling capabilities to approximately 6 Kelvin (-267.15 degree Celsius) and can be connected to a range of cryostat configurations. This set-up aims to provide flexible configurations for all the future cryogenic experiments that will be conducted at the facility.
