The project will address three key aims:
- Examine latest crash data (from TMR), following distance data (from Transurban), and CTP Claims data (from MAIC), to identify high-risk and ‘hot-spot’ locations for rear-end crashes and tailgating.
- Conduct community conversations in which drivers’ perceptions about tailgating and what it is and how to address it will be explored.
- Identify key content for use within education-based initiatives including messaging campaigns and other related resources to assist with increasing public understanding about what tailgating is and how to remedy it.
