Talking Tailgating: Community conversations about what tailgating is and how to remedy it

The project will address three key aims:

  1. Examine latest crash data (from TMR), following distance data (from Transurban), and CTP Claims data (from MAIC),  to identify high-risk and ‘hot-spot’ locations for rear-end crashes and tailgating.
  2. Conduct community conversations in which drivers’ perceptions about tailgating and what it is and how to address it will be explored.
  3. Identify key content for use within education-based initiatives including messaging campaigns and other related resources to assist with increasing public understanding about what tailgating is and how to remedy it.
