TMR is trialling a new roadside behaviour change technology that will be able to detect dangerous driving behaviours including mobile phone use and tailgating and provide real-time feedback to drivers about their behaviour. The feedback will be provided to drivers via purpose-devised and tested messaging which will be displayed on roadside variable message signs (VMS).
The MQ Collab is undertaking the development and testing of the messaging as well as the on-road evaluation of this technology. On-road field trials have commenced in 2025 with the messaging development and testing now complete.
