Examining young adults’ attitudes and intentions towards smartphone use while driving

This study extends upon previous research by examining young drivers’ (aged 17-25 years) intentions to watch video messages while driving and how this behaviour compares to reading text messages while driving. Further, this study examines the extent to which Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), specifically lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control may influence young adults’ intentions to watch a video message or read a text message while driving on a 100km/hr highway in urban or regional environments.
