Alex has worked as a registered psychologist for 24 years, mostly in the field of Alcohol and other drug treatment and drink/drug driver rehabilitation. He has extensive experience in review of research review, developing best practice, intervention programme design in this field, and has presented at conferences internationally and produced written documents on drink/drug driver rehabilitation. He is currently a member of the international, ‘Impaired Driver Behavioural Interventions ICADTS Interest Group’, which is reviewing interventions for impaired drivers worldwide. He has research experience and involvement in focus groups and conducting interviews and reports, notably with those who have mental health needs or emotional discomfort. His particular interests are interventions and programmes in ‘Impaired Driver’ Rehabilitation, with a focus on indigenous experiences and knowledge. He continues to work as a Psychologist in the field, with a goal of applying any research insights to practice.

Alex’s other interests are music and Māori and Pasifika culture and languages.
