Summary

Sugandha Bhatia has commenced as a postdoctoral research fellow at the MPQC, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) starting May 2023 where she is working on exploring biofabrication and ECM alternatives for 3D bone cancer organoids models.  Sugandha obtained her PhD from the QUT in Mar 2020 under the mentorship of Prof. Erik W. Thompson in interrogating the role of the epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity in breast cancer chemoresistance. Her PhD tenure work resulted in 5 publications (4 as first-author) and 3 review articles. She worked as a Research Officer (Mar 2020 – May 2022) in the Prof. Paul Clarke (Director-Frazer Institute) group located within The University of Queensland and subsequently with Assoc. Prof. Pascal Duijf group, QUT (May 2022- May 2023) where her research seeks to delineate the cell cycle regulation, mitotic cell death, genomic and chromosomal instability changes with cancer chemotherapeutics drugs. Prior to coming Australia for her PhD in 2016, she had also worked as Assistant Professor in the higher education industry in India with specific roles in biotechnology teaching, research and curriculum development sector as well as had demonstrated history of working in core cell and molecular biology-oriented research labs in India, USA and Germany.
