Brooke Lundon is a PhD candidate at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) specialising in Tissue Engineering and Cancer Biology. Brooke has studied Paramedic Science (BHlthSc) with a Diploma of Anaesthetics at the University of the Sunshine Coast and Biomedical Science (BBSc) at QUT. During undergraduate studies, Brooke worked as a Clinician Researcher in the Preclinical Innovative Medical and Engineering Laboratory (PRIMELab) and the Innovative Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology Laboratory (ICETLab) at Prince Charles Hospital. Through this experience, she gained a passion for Medical Engineering which she has since combined with her new interest of Cell Biology.
Through her PhD research, Brooke will work with collaborators from Monash University (Melbourne) to develop a comprehensive 3D model of the prostate tumour microenvironment. Her research aims to use these advanced models to study novel treatment resistance mechanisms, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for patients affected by metastatic cancer.
