Summary

Angus Weekes is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Max Planck Queensland Centre (MPQC), and the Cartilage Regeneration Laboratory (CRL) at the QUT Centre for Biomedical Technologies. As a medical engineer and biomaterials scientist, Angus possess a diverse skillset in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research, with experience in clinical and industry settings. His current research focuses are melt electrowriting for soft robotics and regenerative medicine applications, cartilage tissue engineering, and additive manufacturing for biofabrication. Through his joint PhD at the QUT Centre for Biomedical Technologies and Herston Biofabrication Institute, Angus developed multi-disciplinary expertise in bioreactor tissue cultures, 3D gel and scaffold cell culture, SEM, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, advanced additive manufacturing 3D printing, melt electrowriting, and mechanical engineering. Angus has presented his research at many scientific and surgical conferences, and contributed to multiple publications. Angus has industry experience working as a R&D Engineer and has substantial project management skills, demonstrating effective supervision across various projects. Angus has also taught extensively in the QUT Faculty of Engineering, with a passion for mentoring students in the field.
