QUT Medical Radiation Sciences, School of Clinical Sciences team annually delivers a continuing professional education course in Basic Radiographic Techniques for X-Ray Operators, a critically needed service for rural and remote communities. The education team consist of qualified Medical Radiation Practitioners within the School of Clinical Sciences who deliver the course for rural and remote operators, which attracted staff from health clinics from a wide range of remote areas, including North-West and Far North Queensland.
The course has previously been hosted at Cairns Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS), with attendees benefiting from a combination of practical sessions and classroom activities to learn the basic physical principles and radiographic techniques used in imaging the chest and extremities.
“One of the highlights for me was watching the participant’s faces when they finally put it (the course content) into practice. I was also really impressed by the supportive nature of the group”, said Ajesh
