The Life Sciences Innovation Export Hub has been established through a collaboration with Life Sciences Queensland (LSQ), Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Australia China Technology Incubator (ACTI), supported by the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science’s SME Export Hub Program.
Meet our pitch judges
Anthony Coles: Managing Director, H+Labs AustraliaSince first venturing to China in 2007, Anthony Coles has been involved in export, tourism, health, clean energy, investment and education business with China, establishing a company in China in 2015. In 2017 he brokered a visit to Australia by delegates from Tsinghua University’s commercialisation arm, TusHoldings as part of a collaboration with the South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute, (SAHMRI) and the South Australian Government. As an extension of this work, he established H+Lab Australia as a vehicle for further cross-border collaboration and exchange. H+Lab has partnered with the Australia China Technology Incubator (ACTI) and has been hosting inbound and outbound delegations with the TusStar Global Innovation network. Dr Sarah Pearson: Non-executive Director, advisor, investor & researcherDr Sarah Pearson has extensive global executive leadership experience spanning FTSE 100 multinationals, international C-suite roles in the public and private sector, including Cadbury, startups and Venture Capital (MSV and GIF, ~1$bn). She has been an entrepreneur and intrapreneur, CEO, Board Director and Advisor for innovative organisations, and Australia's Innovation Champion for MIKTA. Dr Pearson's favourite role was as Chief Scientist & CIO for DFAT where she engaged globally to drive social and economic impact for developing countries using science and innovation. She holds a PhD in Particle Physics from Oxford, is the author on eight international patents, for cancer diagnosis and novel confectionary, and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering. Sarah Meibusch: Principal, One VenturesSarah Meibusch is responsible for sourcing life sciences companies and actively shaping their future. She applies her global executional experience and entrepreneurial passion to nurture their success. Her enterprise level leadership experience has been forged over 20 years in a wide spectrum of organisations, including start-up, private companies, ASX and NASDAQ-listed companies, a multi-national pharmaceutical company and university research organisations. Prior to OneVentures, Sarah was the Asian Business Development lead for Shire Pharmaceuticals (now Takeda), a global specialty pharmaceutical company. Sarah identified technologies and developed collaborations across Australasia, including playing a key role in sourcing the $300M Fibrotech deal announced in 2015. Joanne Wood: Founder & Chairman, Capital EightJoanne Wood has an investment banking career spanning more than 35 years, around half of this time spent in corporate finance at UBS, Jardine Fleming and GE Capital, with postings to all major financial markets in the USA, UK and Europe prior to returning to the Greater China region. Her advisory experience covers a wide range of financial expertise, including M&A, debt and equity capital raisings, private placements, restructurings and infrastructure financing. In the 1990s Joanne achieved international ranking as a leading Asia-emerging markets financial advisor.
