Dr. Muhammad Zaheer Abbas, Chief Investigator with the Australian Centre for Health Law Research (ACHLR), is a Lecturer in Law at the Faculty of Business and Law, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia. He focuses his research on intellectual property law and policy, with a special interest in patent law and public health. He has written over 30 articles on topics covering various public interest dimensions of intellectual property laws and policies, with a key focus on pharmaceutical patents and access to medicines and vaccines. His work has appeared in the Journal of Law and the Biosciences, Global Public Health, Journal of World Intellectual PropertyJournal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice, and Intellectual Property Journal, among several others. He is a frequent speaker on intellectual property dimensions of public health and has delivered over 40 conference presentations worldwide. Since 2015, he has been an active member of the QUT ACHLR, which is a leading research centre focusing on public health law and policy. He is also a member of the Centre for Behavioral Economics, Society and Technology (BEST Centre) at QUT.
