Investigating the Interplay of Perpetrators’ Perceptions and the Perpetration of Violence Against Women in the Solomon Islands: Examining the Role of Cultural Norms

Extensive research has mainly focused on survivors’ and community perspectives, to inform development efforts of service providers and legal frameworks in Solomon Islands. However, there is very little or no data coming from perpetrators. It appears that perpetrators may have been left out in the fight to end IPV. As such, this research aims to examine perpetrators’ perceptions of IPV, focusing on uncovering the drives that compel and fuel this form of violence against women in Solomon Islands. Through this approach, understanding the viewpoints of perpetrators may lead to further identify and uncover the underlying causes and motivations of such violence through a personal and cultural perspective.
