Past and current projects

Archaeologies, collections and Australian South Sea Islander Identities (ARC Linkage 2019 – 2023)

This project was designed to record the lived experiences of Australian South Sea Islanders connected to communities and sugar mills around the Mackay, Ayr and Rockhampton area.

The Australian South Sea Islander Story in Education (Women In Research Grant 2020 – 2022)

This project was designed to record the educational experiences of Australian South Sea Islanders and their families. It will contribute to a blog and podcast series (coming in 2024/2025).

Preparing teachers for diverse learners: Approaches to improve the cultural capabilities of teachers engaging with Australian South Sea Islander students and communities (Horizon Grant 2021)

This project looked at the cultural capabilities of teachers required to engage with Australian South Sea Islander students and their families. The outcomes were a scoping review, engagement strategy and practice guide.
