Past and current projects
- First Nations Arts Exchange: Launched in 2021, this award-winning, cross-cultural project builds connections and fosters collaboration through an ongoing program that supports and empowers First Nation creatives in the Asia-Pacific. It encompasses an international symposium, peer-reviewed publication, field trips and a short film; and in 2024 artist residencies and a full-length documentary film leading to an exhibition. To date, it’s been funded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture and DFAT.
- McIntyre, S (2023). Yao Jui-chung (姚瑞中). Scheidegger & Spiess, Zurich (monograph). This book is the first scholarly and comprehensive study in English on Yao Jui-chung, one of Taiwan’s most innovative and prolific artists, who has gained international renown for his bold and often satirical critiques of Taiwan and China’s complex and contested identities and histories.
- “Imagining Taiwan: the Role of Art in Taiwan’s Quest for Identity” (Brill, 2018). https://brill.com/display/title/27265?language=en
- Ink Remix: Contemporary art from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong – was a major international touring exhibition I curated that toured cities and regional centres in Australia from 2015-2017. It featured more than 30 works by 14 internationally acclaimed and emerging artists from the region.
