The rapidly growing city of Hanoi is ranked among the most polluted city in South-East Asia in term of air quality. Owing to the scarcity of monitoring stations, the precise levels of air pollution in Hanoi are not well known.
This project, carried out by collaboration between Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the National University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi, Vietnam (NUCE), aimed to utilize the KOALA (Knowing Our Ambient, Local Air) monitors to monitor the spatial and temporal distributions of pollution in Hanoi. KOALAs were installed in two residential areas, one near the city centre and one in an outer suburb. For more information on how the KOALAs operate.
