The Blue Mountains and Lithgow Air Watch Project is led by the New South Wales Environmental Protection Authority, is a 12-month project which started in May 2019 and concluded in May 2020, initiated by the local community to measure ambient air quality in the Blue Mountains and Lithgow.
State-of-the-art low-cost KOALA (Knowing Our Ambient, Local Air) monitors were installed in the Blue Mountains. For more information about the KOALAs and how they operate.
The findings of the project have been published in quarterly reports on the EPA project page. The last two reports to be published in the coming months will be the autumn and final (full 12 month analysis) report.
