
Head of School – School of Public Health Faculty of Medicine – The University of Queensland
Professor Elizabeth Eakin is the Head of School, School of Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland. In this role she is responsible for the co-development and implementation of the strategic direction of the School, with an emphasis on excellence in teaching and learning and student experience; research quality and quantum; and engagement and impact for the many communities served by the School nationally and internationally.
Having joined UQ as a Principal Research Fellow in 2005, Elizabeth secured 16 years of continuous NHMRC Research Fellowship funding and designation as a Thompson-Reuters Highly Cited Scholar for 2016, 2017 and 2018. She was Director of the School’s Cancer Prevention Research Centre (2011 – 2018), Head of the School’s Division of Disease Prevention and Control (2013 – 2016) and Deputy Head of School (2016 – 2017). Elizabeth is a clinical psychologist whose research program sits at the intersection of clinical and public health approaches to chronic disease prevention and management.
