The Design

Research DesignResearcher Annette, speaking to teachers

The project utilised Design-based Research (DBR) principles to design an educational intervention for resolving questions of practice related to teaching, learning and materials (The Design-Based Research Collective, 2003).

DBR ensures relevant and productive research embedded in participants’ needs.

The research is able to generate outcomes that can be shared with other practitioners experiencing similar questions.

DBR involves iterative cycles of design, enactment, evaluation and redesign.

The Research Process

The research project involved workshops and interviews with the school leader, teachers, EAL students in Grades 8 and 11 and their parents, and a cultural broker.
