The research project was driven by the collaboration and commitment of the participants:
- A rural secondary school in South-West Queensland
- The School Principal (with assistance from Deputy Principal)
- Five subject English teachers working with Grades 8 and 11
- Seven Brazilian-background EAL students in Grades 8 and 11:
- 2 – Grade 8
- 5 – Grade 11.
- Parents of the EAL students
- A Brazilian-background cultural broker and community liaison officer
- A school administration officer
- Three researchers (Associate Professor Margaret Kettle, Professor Annette Woods, Professor Susan Danby) and a research assistant (Dr Lynn Downes)
