The Home Language in Schools (HLinS) research project involved the intervention of home languages and culture into curriculum teaching by mainstream content teachers in a Queensland secondary setting.
The project harnessed the benefits of using home languages to support second language development and learning in English, both for teachers and students. It also enriched connections between the school, teachers, and migrant families.
The project was funded by the Department of Education Horizon research grant scheme. This site is designed primarily for teachers, school leaders and English as an additional language (EAL) personnel seeking ways to recognise and integrate EAL students’ rich repertoires of language and culture into classroom learning opportunities.
