Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) – QUT (2014)

Sarah is a design strategist who received her PhD from the School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering at Queensland University of Technology. She is also a research member of the Urban Informatics Research Group and the Design Lab at QUT.

Sarah specialises in ‘designing for diversity’, co-design processes, and designing accessible/low-fi creative/arts-based community and stakeholder engagement tools. She has significant experience in creating tangible, low-fit methods of engagement using accessible technologies and arts-based mediums which are accessible to people with varying skills sets, knowledge, and abilities. Sarah has applied this approach to the design of interactive needs assessment activities for youth work settings, as well as for facilitating participant content creation for citizen engagement on urban development processes. In her own PhD project, she designed and tested creative and culturally appropriate methods for engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse women. Sarah brings her skill set in co-design, creative engagement, and design strategy to the work she does in the HEAL lab.
