While there is anecdotal and empirical evidence that videogames engage the mind, little research has sought to quantify the degree of cognitive activity undertaken during videogame play. This project aims to determine if cognitive activity during gameplay is equivalent to cognitive activity while completing standardised cognitive tests. A secondary aim is to establish if differences in the player experience can be captured using functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).
