Doctoral degree – Instructional Technology and Media, M.S. in Differential Geometry, B.S. in Mathematics
Dr Selen Türkay joined the Science and Engineering Faculty at QUT in the role of lecturer in CHI in July of 2017. Her research interests include design of personalized, interactive, and collaborative learning environments in particular gaming and virtual worlds.
Specifically, she studies the effects of design choices on learning agency and outcomes, as well as user experiences including engagement and motivation. Her research approach is a synthesis of mixed methods, qualitative to quantitative (focus groups, case studies, diary studies, content analysis, surveys, eye-tracking, true experiments, and data analytics).
Prior to joining QUT, Selen worked as a research scientist and a post doctoral research fellow at Harvard University. She earned her doctoral degree in Instructional Technology and Media at Teachers College Columbia University, and received an M.S. degree in Differential Geometry and B.S. in Mathematics from Uludag University, Bursa, Turkey.
