    Sofia is a Master of Diagnostic Genomics student at Queensland University of Technology. She is completing her research placement at the GRC between 2020 and 2021. Her research project focuses on several rare single nucleotide polymorphisms on the SDC4, ATM and AKT1 genes, and how these variants may potentially increase the risk of developing specific subtypes of breast cancer among Australian Caucasian women.

    Sofia has a background in critical care and oncology nursing, which sparked her interest in research in cancer genomics.
