Nick Harvey

    PhD Candidate

2014    Bachelor Applied Science (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), Queensland University of Technology

While completing his Bachelor’s Degree at the Queensland University of Technology, Nick had the opportunity to obtain a research assistant position at the Translational Research Institute, where he first became interested in an academic career. Nick’s Honour’s degree in biomedical science was obtained through QUT but based at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. His  research involvement to date has focused on the genetics and epigenetics of breast cancer. However for his PhD at Bond University/QUT; Nick has chosen to study the molecular genetics that govern adaptations to exercise training. In utilising the GeneSMART study based in Melbourne, and various molecular techniques such as genetic sequencing, he will investigate the molecular basis of exercise training particularly in skeletal muscle.
