Doctor of Philosophy (University of Canberra)
Dr Elaine Cheung joined the Genomics Research Centre in 2022 as a postdoctoral research fellow and bioinformatician. Having completed a Bachelor of Science at the Australian National University, her research interests turned towards forensics where she focused her PhD on the inference of biogeographical ancestry from human genotype. Dr Cheung's experience lies in SNP data, predictive algorithms, and the application of forensic DNA phenotyping in casework to generate investigative leads. Her interdisciplinary skillset has since applied the principles of statistics, biology, and computer programming to the analysis and interpretation of genomic data. Her current work focuses on developing bioinformatic tools to interrogate Next Generation Sequencing data.
