Environmental Manipulation

Climate Chamber (Hot/Cold)

The variable temperature and humidity control chamber are used to simulate real-life climate conditions. The ambient temperature and relative humidity of the chamber can be set to an approximate range of 5°C to 45°C and 20-80%, respectively. The climate chamber is not portable (dimensions (L x W x H) 4m x 3m x 2.5m).

Water Immersion (Hot/Cold)

This single person water bath can hold 450L of water (iCoolsport MiPod), which can be heated or cooled by a separate unit. The water immersion bath is useful for researchers interested in recovery methods for sports medicine as well as clinical applications.

Hypoxic Room (Altitude)

This chamber emulates an environment at altitude, in which the concentration of oxygen in the air is reduced. The chamber can be set to mimic up to 5000m (over 16000ft). This is beneficial for research focused on altitude or hypoxia, and training athletes in order to improve oxygen efficiency through an increase in red blood cell count.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) monitor is used to monitor the thermal environment. This instrument monitors the ambient air temperature, humidity, air flow and radiant heat to provide a WBGT Index. It is portable and can be used indoors and outdoors.
