Accelerating Food Transformation

This project grows the capacity of Queensland and Australia to scale-up food transformation pathways. Food surplus and waste transformation encompass situations where an alternative primary use for certain foods develops from food surpluses or where foods that would otherwise enter waste streams are converted into higher-value products. This project uses an innovative mix of empirical and regulatory methods designed to understand the full range of opportunities and barriers to food surplus and waste transformation across regulatory, social and technical domains.

Outcomes include targeted recommendations for state and federal regulators and strategic advice for industries in a position to invest in food transformation.
