Laura McGillivray

Research Assistant, Faculty of Business and Law

Laura is an emerging researcher with a background in social science, critical criminology, and regulatory studies. She recently completed her PhD at Queensland University of Technology (School of Law) studying animal welfare regulation in the live export trade from a socio-legal perspective. Currently she is conducting postdoc work with QUT on plastic pollution regulation for an ARC Discovery Project.

Some of Laura’s research interest areas include crime and justice, social policy, animal and environmental law and justice, critical studies, ethics, and higher education. She has multi-method experience including qualitative/quantitative research and is keenly developing these skill sets. Her early career teaching and research experience has fostered strong communication skills and adaptability in dynamic environments; she thrives in facilitation roles and enjoys helping others.

Motivated to make a meaningful contribution in her career, Laura is looking to pursue work in social research and policy.
