Andrew Bayor's Page

Bio: Andrew Bayor is a PhD candidate with the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research group, and the design participation Lab of QUT. His PhD research focuses on leveraging accessible technologies to support the life skills development of people with intellectual disability.

Before commencing his PhD, Andy’s prior work focused on developing and designing computing systems for fostering peace and sustainable development. As a pioneering staff of Amplio, he played a leading role in the designing the Talking Book, an audio technology that provides access to health and agricultural information to rural communities across Africa. Further, as a researcher at the United Nations University (UNU) in Macau, his research explored designing value-sensitive technologies to enhance UN peacekeeping missions. Andy also conducted research in cross media monitoring for critical events such as elections. He was a member of a team of technologists from the UNU who worked in collaboration with Penplusbytes to deploy “Aggie,” an election monitoring system, during Ghana’s 2016 general elections.
