A stakeholder engagement forum on Improving Responses to Gender Based Violence in Tuvalu was held on Wednesday 11th September, at the Funafuti Lagoon Hotel. The forum was funded through an Australian Research Council DECRA Grant awarded to Associate Professor Danielle Watson of Queensland University of Technology to work on a project titled Beyond Imported Understandings of Domestic Violence in the Pacific.
Discussions were focused on gender-based violence (GBV) legislation, local terminology, views on local causes and manifestations of GBV, the main challenges for frontline responders responding to GBV and strategies to improve responses to GBV.
The paper coming out of the report is accessible here.
