This research project investigates the impact of news frames on the quality of online public debate concerning climate action in Australia. By investigating news content and user comments on digital platforms, the study seeks to understand how news frames influence online public debate and contribute to mediating societal conflict on climate action. The results of the project will enhance news journalism credibility and audience trust, fostering constructive dialogue, and ultimately promoting democratic discourse. The expected outcomes include insights into strategies for improving audience engagement and the potential for certain types of news frames to encourage civil and cross-cutting discussion.
