Research program: Transforming Media Industries
Oliver Eklund is a PhD candidate in the Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC) at QUT. His research focuses on the challenges for cultural policy in regulating new distribution technologies. Eklund focuses on outcomes of Australian local content regulations on pay-TV and the evolving policy process aiming to regulate local content on SVOD services.
Eklund is also a Research Assistant within the DMRC and has worked as a Sessional Academic in QUT’s school of communication. Since November 2020, he has worked as the DMRC’s HDR Liaison Officer.
His broad research interests include cultural and screen industry policies, internet-distributed television, and the economic and industrial transformations of media industries.
