Ella Chorazy is a Senior Research Associate at the Digital Media Research Centre, working on the Discovery Project "Understanding and Combatting 'Dark Political Communication'." She has a professional background in strategic communication, and is passionate about both research and teaching. Ella's interdisciplinary research interests span the fields of political communication, public relations, journalism, media studies and popular culture.
Ella was awarded the QUT Medal when she completed her double undergraduate degrees and was the recipient of several postgraduate research scholarships including an Australian Postgraduate Award, Creative Industries Top-Up Scholarship, and the Tom Dixon Scholarship. She completed her PhD with the DMRC in 2018 and held an ongoing appointment as a Lecturer in Communication at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia from 2018-2024 before returning to QUT.
Ella is actively engaged in the higher education community and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE), as well as a member of a number of industry associations including Communication and Public Relations Australia (CPRA), the International Communication Association (ICA), the Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Communication Association (AANZCA), and the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd). Ella maintains strong networks with her colleagues and enjoys cross-institutional collaborations.
Additional information
Ella's professional background is in strategic communications, with particular expertise in stakeholder engagement, political advocacy, market research, and project management. Before becoming an academic, she spent over a decade working across various in-house and consultancy roles, and has managed various campaigns, initiatives, and events for large public institutions in collaboration with sponsors, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
Ella is a member of a number of industry associations including Communication and Public Relations Australia (CPRA), the International Communication Association (ICA), the Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand Communication Association (AANZCA), and the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd). She continues to be involved with industry and is open to consulting opportunities.
